Exhibited with In-Transit, a mobile pop-up art exhibition through various locations in The Netherlands
A hand interacts with, and assumably eats off screen, a selection of undeniably Dutch, undeniably fake foods, resulting in a combination of frustration and amusement. Equally intriguing is it's target audience; Dutch people can easily recognise the foods being represented, perhaps not realizing how unfamiliar in other cultures and countries they are, while to someone unfamiliar with Dutch foods the dishes are just the inedible objects they've been made from.
First is a fake piece of bread with spread and hagelslag. Next is a surprisingly accurate difficulty of eating a tompouce, and at last some borrel-snacks; bitterballen and cheese cubes on cocktail sticks and dipping sauce.
